General Safety Policy Statement
DIRECTOR RESPONSIBLE FOR SAFETY – ANTHONY DEVER. MANAGING DIRECTOR
- The Prevention of all accidents involving personal injury or property damage is essential to the efficient operation of Anthony Dever Construction Ltd.
- It is the policy of the Company that its operations and activities are executed at all times in such a way as to ensure, so far as reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare of all its employees and all persons likely to be affected by its operations, including sub-contractors, visitors and the general public where appropriate.
- In this policy the term ‘safety’ is defined to mean: -
The prevention of all injuries
The promotion of all occupational health and hygiene
The control of all situations likely to cause damages to property and equipment
- The above named Managing Director is responsible for the company health & safety policy including the co-ordination and monitoring of the policy, and for effective safety communications within the company.
- In addition, the company employs a full time safety officer, whose responsibilities are set down in section 2.
- The Director Responsible for Safety will review this policy annually, or more frequent if changes in work practices or legislation require it, and recommend updates and modifications to the Board of Directors where necessary.
- The prime responsibility for safe operation and a safe place of work rests clearly upon all sectors of management and the Company will ensure that this policy is pursued with diligence.
- The managing Director will ensure the adoption and maintenance of proper standards of safety, health and welfare within all areas of Company activity, sufficient to meet the requirements of this Safety Policy and the Company’s (and employee’s) legal and moral obligations, and will provide adequate resources, both financial and otherwise to meet these responsibilities.
- The Board of Directors believes that every employee has a responsibility for ‘safety’ and would point out to employees that there is a provision under the terms of the Health & Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, when a breach of the Act has been committed, for criminal proceedings to be taken by the enforcement officer against and ‘individual’ in addition to the Company concerned and, in some circumstances, instead of the Company. The ‘individual’ may be a Director, a Company Secretary, any person in a supervisory position having responsibility for others or an operative who has deliberately disregarded detailed instructions.
- The penalties that can be imposed are the same for both the Company and an individual and may result in heavy fines or imprisonment for serious offences.
- It is therefore incumbent on all employees to take reasonable care for their own safety and the safety of any others who may be affected by their acts or omissions and also to co-operate with the Company in its arrangements to perform or comply with statutory safety obligations which includes adherence to the Company Safety Policy, the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, and all statutory safety legislation.
- This Policy Document and the Provisions contained herein shall be brought to the attention of all employees.
